Debe’s post is right on the mark. This is wrong for a multitude of reasons besides fairness… it’s unethical for the judge, too. Steer clear of having a contracted adjudicator clinic your groups. Save it for State or another time.
Enter the south entry at the back of the school (hit the buzzer thing). Park in the student lot.
Check in and pay ($15 per kid)
Go to auditorium with coat/case/uniform. Put them in the seats in the lower level and the bottom of the upper level. Keep the pit, sides and stairs clear. They must be moved to the band room or backstage during the dinner break before the concert.
10am is the downbeat, so give yourself plenty of time.
Name cards – use these to correct any typos (just have kids pass them to me)
Don’t forget about the music and sticks 😉 No issues tomorrow!! 🙂
I hope things went well today in Shelby. Round 2 is tomorrow.
PLEASE, PLEASE, make sure kiddos have the right music, uniforms, instrument, etc. Wouldn’t it be a dream if kids just simply did this on their own?? My goal is to have Marc drop a downbeat at 10am without a single issue with percussion assignments/sticks, music copies, etc.
I have lots of seating charts, percussion charts, and all of the seats are labeled for woodwinds and brass. All percussion is out there – only heavy beaters are supplied for this.
See you all in the morning!!
9:00am Registration table opens – students pay $15 fee
9:30am Final arrival, coats/cases in auditorium seats
9:45am Start getting seated on stage/warm-up
10:00am Rehearsal downbeat
6:00-6:45 Dress, Pictures, etc.
7:00pm Concert in the Big Rapids High School Auditorium
7:30pm Concert concludes
Some of us may be on the eve of Christmas Break, but many of us are trying to make it through Friday. We are on a 3-night marathon of concerts this week and I look forward to 3:00 Friday afternoon!
I wanted to remind you of a few things for the HSHB coming up January 10th. This is RIGHT when we get back from break, so some of these details need to be taken care of now!
If you did not send dietary info, please be sure to do that NOW (I had one dietary need out of 120… seems low).
All music should have been distributed to your students by now. Brass/Woodwind part distributions are noted in a pdf document with “image” in the title.
Percussion Ensemble members – like any honor group, but particularly this piece with Mike, they MUST come in prepared on their ensemble parts.
ALL Percussion – PLEASE… make sure your student has correct parts, sticks, etc. I am providing all instruments including a 3rd marimba, etc. from our Middle School. I really want to ensure the morning rehearsal is 100% set before Marc starts – the #1 issue with these honor groups is always part assignments for percussion. I tried my best to have everything organized in the Google Drive so this is not an issue. I’ll provide bass drum, gong and other heavy beaters. Your student is required to bring snare sticks, yarn and timpani mallets.
Thank you for your help in making this a great day! The program looks very solid and I know our kids are going to have a great experience.
See you all in a couple weeks!
